Gyros, anyone?
Wednesday, May 3, 2006 10:32:31 pm

For some odd reason, I had a craving for a good gyro today. Well, okay, not just any kind of gyro... a Munster gyro. There's something reassuring about the guy wearing sunglasses cutting meat off of the rotating lamb-cooking-device.

Paging Dr Scholl
Wednesday, April 26, 2006 8:55:46 pm

A couple months ago, I bought myself two new pairs of dress shoes to replace my previous pairs, which we just over 2 years old. I chose very nice Kenneth Cole shoes. So cool are these shoes, that they are no longer featured on the web site... hrmph. Anyhow, these shoes have been doing all sorts of evil to my feet. Finally, after much *painful* debate, I bought some Dr Scholl's insoles. I'm wearing my shoes comfortably as I type this. What a difference a small piece of foam padding can make! Considering the price I paid for the shoes, however, I really wonder why they didn't have something more than the almost-nonexistent insole?

For some strange reason...
Tuesday, April 18, 2006 9:26:45 pm

... I'm still battling the after-effects of last week's mystery sickness. It's just annoying... for instance, when I try to talk, I don't last more than 30 seconds before needing to cough.

All that aside, I get the feeling there's some strange stuff brewing at work, all driven by a project *landing* (I still haven't heard if the contract was signed) that we aren't quite capable of staffing without possibly upsetting some current clients. This kind of thing is pretty tricky to pull off, and it's not historically been very successful in my book.

Oh, poor old Dave had some trouble leaving some humorous comments here yesterday. This really stinks because I'm sure they would've been amusing. It should be stated that the cause of his troubles is still unknown, as I had no issues posting.

Sneak-up sickness
Tuesday, April 11, 2006 9:26:59 pm

This morning when I got off of the train downtown, I suddenly had a sore throat and a bit of a mild headache. By the end of the day, I also had the chills. After I got home from work, I slept for about 2 hours. I'm feeling a little better, but this thing really snuck up on me... all on one of the first 70 degree days in Chicago. BAH!

Catchin' up
Tuesday, April 4, 2006 7:43:50 pm

I'm still a little messed up on my sleep schedule after Monday's debacle, but I'm hoping that I crash early tonight. Monday was really poorly timed, coming off of my most partied-out weekend in over a year, plus the daylight-savings time switch!

Case of the mondays
Sunday, April 2, 2006 8:03:07 pm

I have to be in at one client site at 4 am to help a co-worker diagnose an issue. I can only stay there until 8am, as I'm currently on another contract for a different client, where I'll be putting in a full 8-hour day. Boo.

Mid-food, April Fool's
Sunday, April 2, 2006 1:48:40 pm

In the middle of some szechuan chicken... there were mushrooms, but large enough to be easily picked out.

Yesterday, as part of an annual tradition, my brother, sister, and I pranked the parents. This usually involves causing all 3 phone lines to ring simultaneously. This year, I started 5-10 seconds before the other 2 and pretended to be a cop from Bloomington, informing my dad that my sister was in the slammer. He thought maybe it was me at first, but got distracted when the other 2 lines started ringing. It's nice that they really enjoy it, as it's not too often that everyone is together anymore, and it won't be getting much better with both JE and Ginger graduating this year and moving onto jobs in different cities.

A long Friday
Saturday, April 1, 2006 12:04:07 pm

Yesterday, I got up at 5:30am so that I could get into, and thus, out of, work early. Samara was coming into town, so we were meeting up with Brown to hang out. We chilled at Brown's place for a while before moving on to Durkin's, which also happens to be the Purdue bar. Having skipped dinner, Samara and I ducked out to grab some pizza at a by-the-slice place called Chicago's Pizza. By that point, I was pretty tired as well as a little drunk, so we parted ways for the evening.

Thursday on Saturday
Saturday, April 1, 2006 12:00:00 pm

[I meant to post this on Thursday] This morning (Thursday), while riding the EL to work, the song playing on my iPod was "The Warmth" by Incubus. Ironically, later in the day, it was the first 60+ degree day of the spring. Perfect timing.

Wrigleyville was hopping, to put it lightly. My roommie and I grabbed dinner at one of our usual spots, a little Irish bar named "The Mystic Celt"... although I thought Celts were Scottish? We then re-opened our porch area with a few celebratory beers.
